| "CPR PARTY" |
| Date: |
8/23/2008 |
Today, Llanerch resident Julie Millay (also the wife of Asst. Chief Chris Millay) hosted a "CPR Party" at her house for 4 of her friends. LFC EMS Captain Jon Serbin taught the class. The five ladies spent the afternoon snacking on hors d'oeuvres and beverages while learning how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants, the Heimlich Maneuver, and the use and operation of an automatic external defibrillator (AED). According to the American Heart Association (AHA), more than 166,000 people die of cardiac arrest each year. Less than 1/3 of them receive CPR, which can triple their chance of survival. The party-goers had to perform the skills they learned on rescue dummies and take a written test; all passed with flying colors! If you or someone you know would be interested in hosting a CPR Party, feel free to call the Llanerch Fire Company (610-446-9870) Ask for Captain Jon Serbin, or leave a message. This is one party that could save a life!

At approximately 16:42 hours, Station 34 along with Stations 35,56,58, and 38 for the RIT responded to the Falcon Center for the report of a structure fire. FM-1 (Marino) arrived on location and confirmed a 2 story office building with fire showing from the exterior of the courthouse side of the structure. Crews from Engine 34 arrived on location set up a water supply and advanced a primary hose line to the building and checked for extension while crews from Ladder 35 set up a hose line on the exterior of the building. | TOWNSHIP DRILL |
| Date: |
3/31/2008 |
Tonight, all 5 stations of the HTBF took part in a township-wide drill. This drill was utilized as a needs and assessment tool to evaluate our training. It also gave us the chance to become more familiar working with members of the other HTBF stations. EMS was on standby with 34-7A and 34-8 to ensure the well being of all participants through rehab. Three evolutions were performed and a written critique and evaluation was compiled. Thank you to the HTBF Training Committee and Bureau of Fire for making this drill possible. We hope to have more such drills in the future. (Photos: Brian Feeney)

| BUSY DAY FOR 34 HOUSE |
| Date: |
3/02/2008 |
Today proved to be a busy day for the members of the LFC. Crews were getting ready to take part in an Emergency Vehicle Operators' Course (EVOC) when we were dispatched to the area of Township Line & Meadowbrook Rd. for a vehicle accident. Shortly after the medics and ambulance arrived on location, the call was upgraded to a vehicle accident with entrapment. This brought in 34 for the Engine Companies and 56 (Manoa) for the Rescue. Crews from E34, TS34, and R56 worked together flawlessly to remove the 2 trapped victims. 2 patients were flown via PennStar to the Childrens' Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) while the other was transpoted by ground. After we cleared the accident, members returned to class. The LFC was dispatched to 4 more calls throughout the day and the ambulance kept busy as well.
