| CHATHAM PARK VISITS LFC |
| Date: |
10/18/2007 |
Today, the morning and afternoon kindergarten classes of Mrs. Moyer and Mrs. Koch visited the LFC. The students learned the essentials of fire safety from Asst. Chiefs Chris Millay and Victor Berg as well as Lt. Chris James, FF/EMT Brendan Monahan, FF/EMT John Serbin, and FF/EMT Zack Zacharka. The kids learned Stop/Drop/Cover Your Eyes/and Roll, how to practice a home fire drill, and how to dial 9-1-1. Students then had to pass a test in order to squirt the fire hose; of course they all passed! We'd like to thank the kids for visiting and hope they learned how to be Fire Safe Kids.

| OPEN HOUSE |
| Date: |
10/12/2007 |
The LFC's Fire Prevention Open House was a definite success. Over 100 neighborhood children stopped by the station to check out our fire prevention and life safety demonstrations. Visitors were given fire station tours by FF/EMT Billy Barch and stopped by Becky Barch's Hot Dog Stand on the way. EMT Jeff King taught our guests how to dial 9-1-1. Jr. FF Jack Welsh and FF Mark Buehler let the kids get a hands-on experience using an actual fire hose, while FF Dom Barrett had the kids try on firefighting gear. FF Joe Koerner showed the kids how to crawl low under smoke while Lt. Gene Dolan Jr. taught Stop/Drop/Roll. EMS Captain Sandy Abel and EMT Alex Jacobs gave ambulance tours while several other EMT's demonstrated first aid skills. Once the kids visited all of our stations and completed their Fire Safety Checklist, they were awarded a LFC Fire Safe Kid t-shirt! Thanks to all our neighbors for visiting the station tonight and be sure to keep an eye on the LFC website to learn more fire safety tips!
